Three Cool Things Thursday

FAERIE TALE THEATRE
I was obsessed with these as a kid-- err, young adult.  Well, really, even into my twenties... late twenties.  Ok, now.  I'm obsessed with these now.  They're hour long fairy tales from the 80s featuring actors like Robin Williams, Mick Jagger, Bernadette Peters, Susan Sarandon, Elizabeth McGovern, Christopher Reeves, Jennifer Beals and pretty much every famous 80s actor.  Seriously, you guys, this shit is AMAZING!  Click on image above for link to buy.

Watch The Little Mermaid:

SOMETHING COOL by June Christy

  6. Get out! I was (and still am a little bit) obsessed with Faerie Tale Theatre. Love "The Sleeping Beauty" one. Though being a huge Christopher Reeve fan makes me sad to rewatch it :(

On a far more serious note, work has got me doing some research on weight loss issues and during one of my intense research days, I've come across a blog about a girl who is recovering from anorexia. Much to my surprise, she has a blog entry where she talks about you. If you are interested in reading it, here it is: http://recoveringanorexic.wordpress.com/2013/01/18/how-to-be-content/#comments

    1. I just read that blog entry.. That is definitely something I haven't really read before, somebody who has an eating disorder and see how they see things and people. It's a little disheartening but at the same time not so much.. I'm glad you posted that.. it was a little eye opening.

  8. Thank you for sharing all these, I love much, I must see if your first article can be delivered in France because it looks really good and I'm much interressed.

The Little Mermaid, the movie often accompany me and I smiled knowing that I watch yesterday with my daughter 8 years. Wednesday, day of children :)

I love typewriters. I borrowed it from my mom, but today she is too worn to be used again. I have two passions in life, music, and writing. Where can we find such beautiful typewriters?

  11. I had to respond here... as your mom, I always loved reading you fairy tales and then when we found these videos (yes, videos then), it was such fun to watch them together - they were so alive and different from cartoons... I'm so glad you are introducing others to these gems... and I love that you STILL love fairy tales.... xoxoxo

  13. hello joy,

A lot of the stuff you post often reminds me of my childhood as well. The one day you posted about Anne of Green Gables;my favorite books and movies.I just read that they changed the cover of the books. The girl has blonde hair. Which every fan knows Anne has red hair. lol I loved Farie Tale Theater as well. I have them myself. Thank you for being you and a good role model for the young girls who look up to you!

    Thank you,

    Jess

  14. I love Faerie Tale Theatre, I had all the episodes on VHS. Sadly, I watched them to many times and the tapes are no good anymore. I loved Elizabeth Mcgovern as Snow White and Matthew Broderick as the Prince in Cinderella. I'm hoping to get the complete collection so I can share them with my nephews and nieces.

I love the look of the vintage typewriters.

    Thanks for sharing,

    Lisa xoxo
